Are You Inspiring?

B2B Marketing: Do you inspire?

A parable

A man walks past a construction site and encounters a man laying bricks. “What are you doing?” he asks.

“I’m laying bricks.” came the reply.

He continues on and find another man with bricks. He asks “What are you doing?”

The man says “I’m building a wall.”

He strolls on for a bit and encounters a third man. A third time he asks “What are you doing?”

The man stands up straight and tall, smiles broadly — and in a booming voice, he announces I’m building a cathedral.”

Three men doing exactly the same thing. But only one inspires.

My question for you is this:

Are you laying bricks or are you building a cathedral? Are you building something great – that truly inspires someone?

Here’s the marketing take-away. People want to be inspired. Bricklayers don’t inspire. But everyone would love to help build a cathedral.

What do you think? Do you want to be inspired?
