Saddened by the demise of once great companies

Kodak, Nokia, RIM, Hewlett-Packard.Invisible hand

Four names that once represented powerful companies who could do no wrong. Today, they are struggling to remain relevant – or to even survive.

The current (Kodak)chief executive, Antonio M. Perez, has tried to reinvigorate the company by focusing on inkjet printers, commercial printing and the company’s vast portfolio of patents, which the company has licensed and are now attempting to sell.

But Mr. Perez’s strategy has caused the company to burn through cash, and analyst Shannon Cross, of Cross Research, said it was only a matter of time before the cash ran out.” (Source: New York Times)

H-P is paying millions to failed leaders. RIM can’t seem to make a product anyone wants (e.g Playbook) and Nokia has the same problem.

Interesting times we live in, don’t you think?
