The Importance of a Good Leadership page – Rob and Deploy Ideas

“R&D – Rob and Deploy – the best marketing ideas from others” by Henry Devries

One of the best ways to promote your LinkedIn profile is to add a View my LinkedIn Profile button to the top of your blog, which we did.  It’s at the top of this blog now.

Thanks to LinkedIn and WordPress.com for great support to help me add it!

I’ve been talking with a cool company called Conversant Media.  Take a look at their Leadership page. It’s not very good at all and I don’t like it.

It has small photos and lots of text, which is a bad marketing idea. And does John Giuliani look happy? No he does not. Note that there is no smile on his face. Sorry, John, but bad idea.

JOHN GIULIANIConversant Media CEO

President and Chief Executive Officer, Director

John Giuliani serves as president and chief executive officer and is a member of the board of directors. Mr. Giuliani joined the senior management team and board in August 2011 after the acquisition of Dotomi, where John served as chief executive officer. From April 2012 until December 2012, Mr. Giuliani served as our chief operating officer.

John Giuliani is a seasoned executive with nearly 25 years of experience in growing successful organizations. Before joining Dotomi, Mr. Giuliani founded Rainmaker Consulting Group Inc., which specialized in strategic sales and marketing consulting for marketing services firms. He also served as President of North America for Catalina Marketing Services, providing behavioral insights, database marketing and Internet solutions to key Fortune 1000 companies. His leadership at Catalina resulted in record revenues and net profits. Additionally, Mr. Giuliani’s tenure includes four years at ACTMEDIA working with the launch team of the Instant Coupon Machine, as well as in CPG sales and marketing with Beecham Products and Frito-Lay, Inc.

Mr. Giuliani is also a member of the board of directors for Bluestem Brands, Inc. f/k/a Fingerhut Direct Marketing, Inc.  In the past, he has participated on boards for Q Interactive, SuperMarkets Online, Affinova, Claria, Imagitas, and El Dorado Marketing. Mr. Giuliani has an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, as well as a B.S. from the University of Illinois.

Oh my goodness. Could you write any more about that man? It is far too wordy and he doesn’t smile.  Business should be fun.

DougColbeth-4colThey should R&D an idea from Kinaxis leadership page.  There you find large images with smiling executives and very little text except one sentence and “More” which you can click to see the text.

PRESIDENT, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

Douglas Colbeth became president and chief executive officer of Kinaxis in March 2003… More (That’s all the text. Just one sentence and More.)

Doug is clearly happy and smiling, unlike the other CEO.

Bottom line. The Kinaxis leadership page is a LOT better than the Conversant Media leadership page.

Which do you prefer?

Do you bore buyers with long text webpages? I sure hope you don’t. It is a bad marketing approach. Sorry Conversant Media.

What do you think? We love comments and those who share on social media too.
